Downloadable Summer Reading Lists
Let your kids choose from these teacher & kid-approved lists!
Many of you have emailed me to ask about the summer reading lists. This newsletter is for you!
Summer Reading Lists
Here are the summer reading downloadable book lists (click the grade to download) with clickable buying links on Amazon. (Click the titles to go to Amazon.)
My recommendation is to use the list from the grade your child is leaving, unless you know they’re ready to read harder books. You know your reader best. I think both the previous and future grade lists will work for most kids.
I highly recommend allowing your readers to choose the books— let them scroll through the lists, look at the covers and descriptions, and make choices accordingly. Choice provides ownership and motivation!

Summer Reading Ideas
If you need a few ideas to keep up the reading motivation this summer, try one of these:
Watch a movie based on a book you’ve read.
Stay up late reading…with a headlamp.
Get a new stuffed reading buddy.
Shop at the bookstore. Let your kids pick three books to buy. Or, set a dollar amount and have them buy books within a budget.
Reward summer reading with extra read aloud time.
Take turns reading a book out loud.
Get a library card. Check out as many books as can fit into a tote bag!
Do a book swap with friends.
Listen to audiobooks. (They count!)
Happy summer reading!
Love,
Melissa
